How to make a magic ring

Next, we're going to start our first lesson on how to create a magic ring. We'll teach you using very simple methods, so there's no need to worry!

How to use a crochet ring

We understand that many beginners might find it challenging to hold the yarn, so we've created a helpful tutorial on using a crochet ring. If you still feel unsure about holding the yarn after finishing your first round, we invite you to watch this video for some guidance!

Single Stitch

Before learning single stitch.

we need to know some patterns of crochet.

This pattern is written in US terminology and crocheted in the round

sc --  single crochet

*** If you want to learn how to crochet, single crochet is one of the most important stitches you need to know. A majority of crochet patterns and projects incorporate single crochet stitches.

Single crochet is one of the easiest stitches to master. Once you've learned the single crochet stitch, there are infinite possible ways to use it. You can work it in rows, in rounds or spirals, as edging, in different parts of the stitch for different effects, and combined with other stitches in countless variations.

Round 1

After watching the video, we should show the stitches in this round.

crochet 6 single stitches. Crocheters love abbreviations, so in pattern speak, that's written as:

sc x 8   (8)

Since the pattern is: sc --  single crochet,

and sc x 8  means 8 single stitches,

(6)  means the total stitches.

OK, I know you already understand a little bit.

Now, let go on!

Wow! You've done the hardest round on the previous page,
What‘s proving you have a talent for crocheting?
All you need to do is keep patient!

Increase stitch

In this round, we need to learn the increase stitch.

Increases in stitches

Increase stitch is make two single stitches in the same hole, that is all.

A single stitch is already completed, then:
2. Insert the hook into the same stitch
3. Yarn over to start the 2nd single stitch
4. Draw through the same 1 st single stitch
5. Yarn over to complete the 2nd single stitch
6. 2 single stitches are in the same stitch= Increase stitch

Please see the video if you are still confused about the increase crochet!

After following the video, let me show the stitches in this round.

Crocheting  6 increase crochets.

Crocheters love abbreviations, so in pattern speak, that's written as:

inc x 6   (12)

Since 1 increase stitch = 2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch,

1 increase stitch counts as 2 stitches.

This means the pattern could've also been written like this:

[2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch] x 6

And

2 stitches x 6 = 12 total stitches

OK, I know you already understand a little bit.

Now, let go on!

Good job! You've learned to crochet the single stitch and increase stitch.

Now this round will be easy for U,

[incsc] x 6 (18)

Or with a lot more words:

[1 increase crochet stitch,1 single crochet stitch] for a total of 6 times= 18 stitches

Since 1 increase crochet stitch is 2 single crochet stitches

that is:

[ 1 stitch+2 stitches] *6=18 stitches

I know this pattern will be a bit difficult for you,

Don't worry!

I will show you the chart.

This is a chart to explain the stitches pattern of round 3:

Go ahead with the video:

See, you are done!

Good job!

Now, we'll work on Round 4,

Let's show you the pattern:

[2sc, inc] x 6 (24)

Or with a lot more words:

[2 single crochet stitch,1 increase crochet stitch] for a total of 6 times= 24 stitches

Since 1 increase crochet stitch is 2 single crochet stitches

that is:

[ 2 stitch+2 stitches] *6=24 stitches

Go ahead with the video:

Now, we'll work on Round 5,

Let's show you the pattern:

[inc, 3sc] x 6 (30)

Do 1 increase crochet stitch at first.

Then 3 single crochet stitches in the one after that.

Repeat that sequence of stitches 6 times. You'll have 30 V's once you've finished this round.

Go ahead with the video:

Now, we'll work on Round 6,

Let's show you the pattern:

[4sc, inc] x 6 (36)

Do 4 single crochets at first.

Then 1 increase crochet in the one after that.

Repeat that sequence of stitches 6 times. You'll have 36 V's once you've finished this round.

Go ahead with the video:

Rounds 7-13

The pattern of rounds 7 to 13 is the same :

36 SC

(36)

According to the pattern,

There are single stitches all around in rounds 7 to 13,

In this video, we only show round 7.

Relax and keep going!

Before we go to Round 14, we need to know the decrease (dec) stitch.

Decrease (dec) Stitch

Decreasing in Single Crochet, dec (This pattern is written in US terminology)

*Joining two single crochet stitches together at the top to make it become one stitch is how you decrease in single crochet. This tutorial teaches you step-by-step how to decrease in a single crochet.

Please see the video if you are still confused about the decrease crochet!

Round 14

Here is the pattern of Round 14 :

[4 sc, dec] x 6

(30)

Do 4 single crochets at first.

Then 1 decrease crochet in the end.

And repeat the pattern 6 times,

You'll have  30 V's once you've finished this round.

OK, I know you already understand a little bit。

Now, let go on!

Very well!

Here is the pattern of Round 15 :

[3 sc, dec] x 6

(24)

Do 3 single crochets at first.

Then 1 decrease crochet in the end.

And repeat the pattern 6 times,

You'll have  24 V's once you've finished this round.

OK, I know you already understand a little bit。

Now, let go on!

Here is the pattern of Round 16 :

[dec, 2 sc] x 6

(18)

Do 1 decrease crochet at first.

Then 2 single crochets in the end.

And repeat the pattern 6 times,

You'll have  18 V's once you've finished this round.

OK, I know you already understand a little bit。

Now, let go on!

Stuff amigurumi

  ***Don't stuff too much!!!

  • How you stuff your amigurumi greatly affects its shape – lumpy or smooth, saggy or plump.
  • If you don’t add enough, your amigurumi may look sunken in.
  • If you add too much, the stuffing might be seen from the outside of your work.
  • It takes time to learn how much stuffing to put in your work, but don’t worry – you’ll get a feel for it with some experience

  1. Pull apart a thin piece of polyfill, and shape it into roughly the same diameter as the bottom-most point of your work.
  2.  Put this layer of polyfill in your work.
  3. Push down on the polyfill from all angles, to make it consistently flat. Keep adding thin layers of polyfill, adjusting the diameter of it as the diameter of your work changes.

Very well!

Here is the pattern of Round 17 :

[ sc, dec] x 6

(12)

Do 1 single crochet at first.

Then 1 decrease crochet in the end.

And repeat the pattern 6 times,

You'll have  12 V's once you've finished this round.

OK, I know you already understand a little bit。

Now, let go on!

Very well!

Here is the pattern of Round 18 :

dec x 6

 (6)

Do 7 decrease crochets to the end.

You'll have 7 V's once you've finished this round.

Now, let go on!

Make a pumpkin shape

With Brown yarn, do this pattern to make the stem.

  3. Round 6:           5 inc          (10)

  4. Round 7:            [sc,  inc]x 5             (15)
