Blue Penguin
How to make a magic ring
Next, we're going to start our first lesson on how to create a magic ring. We'll teach you using very simple methods, so there's no need to worry!
******Start with the Blue yarn
How to use a crochet ring
We understand that many beginners might find it challenging to hold the yarn, so we've created a helpful tutorial on using a crochet ring. If you still feel unsure about holding the yarn after finishing your first round, we invite you to watch this video for some guidance!
Single Stitch
Before learning the single stitch.
We need to know some crochet patterns.
This pattern is written in US terminology and crocheted in the round
sc -- single crochet
Round 1
Crochet 5 single stitches in Round 1. Crocheters love abbreviations, so in pattern speak, that's written as:
sc x 5 (5)
Since the pattern is: sc -- single crochet,
and sc x 5 means 5 single stitches,
(5) means the total stitches.
Wow! You've done the hardest round on the previous page,
What‘s proving you have a talent for crocheting?
All you need to do is keep patient!
Increase stitch
In this round, we need to learn the increase stitch.
Increases in stitches
An increase stitch is making two single stitches in the same hole, that is all.
Round 2
Crocheters love abbreviations, so in pattern speak, that's written as:
inc x 5 (10)
Since 1 increase stitch = 2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch,
1 increase stitch counts as 2 stitches.
This means the pattern could've also been written like this:
[2 single crochet stitches in the same stitch] x 5
And
2 stitches x 5 = 10 total stitches
Good job! You've learned to crochet the single stitch and increase stitch.
Now this round will be easy for U,
Round 3
[sc, inc] x 5 (15)
Or with a lot more words:
[1 single crochet stitch,1 increase crochet stitch] for a total of 5 times= 15 stitches
Since 1 increase crochet stitch is 2 single crochet stitches
that is:
[ 1 stitch+2 stitches] *5=15 stitches
Go ahead with the video:
Round 4
[sc, inc, sc] x 5 (20)
Do 1 single crochet at first.
Then 1 increase crochet in the one after that.
Finally, crochet 1 single crochet.
Repeat 1 single crochet;1 increase crochet,1 single crochet
Repeat that sequence of stitches 5 times. You'll have 20 V's once you've finished this round.
Please follow the video:
Round 5
[3sc, inc,] x 5 (25)

[ 9sc, inc ] x 3
(33)

Decrease (dec) Stitch
Decreasing in Single Crochet, dec (This pattern is written in US terminology)
*Joining two single crochet stitches together at the top to make it become one stitch is how you decrease in single crochet. This tutorial teaches you step-by-step how to decrease in a single crochet.
Round 13
sc x 34,dec x 1
